Today we created three templates to use for the exercise “Introduction to Spreadsheets”. I also handed out a formating exercise. Make a bank statement similar to example on the page, then change it to make it look interesting. Here is the lesson.
MAD30S – Net Income Cont…
Today and Friday we are working on net income after deductions. We are calculating gross income, then finding all four of the basic deductions (federal tax, provincial tax, CPP and EI). The work to be complete is Unit B Exercise #1 on pages B3 and B4. Please remember to check the gross pay in the solution section before you do your deductions. The Federal tax tables start on page 28 and the Provincial tax tables start on page 52.

Today we learned about deductions from Gross Income. We investigated Federal Income Tax, Provincial Income Tax, CPP and EI. MAD30S – Gross Pay – Part I
Today we started the next unit – Personal Finance 1. We started by talking about gross pay with some definitions and two examples. On Tuesday we will continue with gross pay with two more examples and a worksheet. Here are today’s notes gross-income-part-1.pdf and here is today’s lesson.
MAD20S – Test Day
Today we had the test for 2D and 3D shapes. All work for this chapter is due by Tuesday. On Tuesday we will be starting the next unit – Spreadsheets. I will hand out the chapter overview on Tuesday. Make sure your password is up to date and working since we will be using the computers for the next two weeks. There is no final test in this unit, rather there is a project that we will work on for about 3 to 4 days.

Today we had the test for systems of equations. All work from this chapter is due on Monday the 25th. We will be starting the next chapter on Monday.
MAD20S – Heron’s Formula
Today we used Heron’s Formula to find the area of any triangle. Here are the notes. herons-formula.pdf Here is the lesson. I did not assign any exercises for Heron’s Formula since it is very straight forward. The test is on Monday the 25th. It covers the area and volume of many different shapes. There are a few questions on scale factor (linear, area, and volume) and one question on Heron’s formula.
